Name of Artist: Brandon Woelfel
Date of Artist's Life: Born August 17, 1994
When Brandon was a kid he grew up in Long Island, New York. Brandon was in sophomore year of college at School of Visual Arts when he studied computer art. He was always an artistic kid growing up. He did classes at school but also outside of school.
His style is very comfy and colorful. He loves to use his friends in the pictures instead of models because he thinks that his friends bring different kinds of emotion. Brandon usually shoots at night or sunset because the colors of the sky can make the photos 10 times better. Many of his pictures are taken in New York so it has that city style to it but he'll also take pictures in the middle of the road or in a field. Either way his pictures tell a story in them. Also Brandon loves to create his photos with some sort of light source in them to set off a glow.
Brandon's pictures are social because he only uses his friends. Some of his pictures have his friends all hanging out with each other having fun or couples standing next to each other being talkative. Sometimes his pictures can also be pretty personal since there is a lot of emotion in the pictures that he takes. I think Brandon mostly likes working with his friends better then random models that he doesn't know because his friends bring more emotion not to just the love of getting their photo taken but also being able to express themselves in different ways and working with Brandon. He doesn't tell a specific story in each picture but he defiantly shows expression.
His work has influenced me so much by not just taking time on taking photos but making sure your fully satisfied with them. Also the fact that he uses his friends most of the time has encouraged me to hang out with my friends and do something fun with them. Especially capturing great moments with them which I think Brandon does very well in his photos. The colors in his photos inspired me to look at photos an entirely different way. That helped me realize what kinda of photos I really like to take.

The first pair of photos is the reflection of lights in the girls glasses. It was sort of hard to really capture the reflection. Brandon also had many more lights then I did so I think if I would have had more lights, it would've made a huge difference. If I would've taken the picture on a brighter background or it was a little bit earlier in the day I think the color would really match up. I only took a picture of half of her face instead of all of it because I was really trying to make the reflection of the lights appear in the glasses. The further away I went from the glasses the more the reflection would disappear.
The second pair of photos is lights in the background and colored lights on the hand. It was very difficult to figure out what Brandon used to create the color on the hand. What I did instead was put lights in the hand but they weren't colorful since I couldn't find any. Also maybe if there were more lights in the background it would have made the room brighter and not have as much empty space. Lastly I zoomed in on the photo instead of keeping it its original size. I think making it bigger helped the lights really show and stand out.

These photos represent lights. The fact that there is brightness in the world and you just have to look in many different places to find it, but its there. Lights can create leading lines to objects or meanings and explain the mood in the pictures. The reason I specifically choose lights in every picture was because it creates a certain glow to people or happy emotion. All of Brandon's pictures are creative and colorful when it comes to lights. Lights have a certain depth and warmth to them which I love but sometimes its hard to shoot with lights because the brightness can change the contrast or focus of the photo.
